Report of Shots Fired From Passing Vehicle

Results in Arrest of Two Men with Multiple Charges Involved

(Fishers, Indiana) – While patrolling the area of 141st Street and Cumberland Road around 9:15 pm 1/25/2010, Fishers Police Officer Chris Tucker was flagged down by a very excited motorist who shouted “That white car just shot 4-5 rounds as it passed me on Cumberland!”

Officer Tucker observed the vehicle, a white Infiniti SUV, turn into the Woodbury housing addition from 141st Street and immediately turn it’s headlights off to avoid further detection. Officer Tucker instantly pursued the vehicle while other officers responded to assist.

Although he momentarily lost sight of the fleeing vehicle, Officer Tucker was able to easily follow the tracks due to fresh snow on the road surface. From the tracks, Officer Tucker noticed places where the suspect vehicle slid into oncoming lanes and even off the roadway at one point as it hurriedly drove through the neighborhood without headlights in an attempt to evade Tucker.

Officer Tucker soon caught up with the vehicle as it was parking at a residence in the 14300 block of Orange Blossom Trail. The two male occupants attempted to run to the front door of the residence but were met at the front porch area just as quickly by Officer Tucker. A nearby Noblesville Police Officer heard the radio traffic and immediately arrived to assist Tucker take the two into custody for further investigation.

The driver was identified as 26 year old Thomas Bradshaw of Fishers and the passenger was identified as 23 year old Joshua Sherman of Noblesville. A full investigation resulted in the probable cause necessary to arrest both individuals.

Thomas Bradshaw (driver) was arrested and charged with the suspicion of

Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. Joshua Sherman (passenger) was cooperative during the investigation and a .45 caliber handgun belonging to him was located in the rear of the mentioned vehicle. Sherman was charged with Carrying a Handgun Without a License and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon. Both men were transported to the Hamilton County Jail where they remain incarcerated.

The Fishers Police Department takes this opportunity to thank the Noblesville Police Department for their officer’s assistance and to say ‘well done’ to Officer Chris Tucker. We would also like to especially thank the resident who took quick action to report the incident. Without the information he provided about this dangerous incident, we obviously would not have been able to make these arrests.
