General Information
Recyclables
If your trash and recyclables are not picked
up on a given Monday, please contact Republic direct at the Customer Service
Department (317-917-7302) and state you are a resident of Berkley Grove.
Boats & RVs
The Town of Fishers allows boats, RVs, and
trailers to be parked on the street for three days out of every 30.
Halloween Hours Tips
Fishers Police Chief George Kehl offers the following
safety tips for Halloween.
> Give and accept wrapped or packaged candy only.
> Have children bring treats home for adult inspection before they are
eaten.
> A parent or adult should accompany children when they are
trick-or-treating.
> Carry a flashlight.
> Stay within your neighborhood; only visit homes you know.
> Use make-up or face paint instead of masks. If masks are used, make sure
the child has good visibility.
> Choose costumes that are flame retardant.
> Wear light-colored clothing, short enough to prevent tripping. Add
reflective tape to dark colored costumes.
> Watch for vehicle traffic and use caution when crossing the street.
Police cars will be patrolling the neighborhoods to ensure everyone’s
safety. If you see or find anything suspicious, please call the Fishers
Police Department at 773-1282 or Emergency 911.
Annual Meeting
The Berkley Grove Property Owners Association's
annual meeting is typically held the last Monday of January at 7 p.m. The
board typically posts signs in the neighborhood about one week before the
meeting, mails a meeting notice to your home, lists the info in a
neighborhood newsletter and lists the event on the web site.
Architectural Approval
In order to preserve the aesthetic and
architectural consistency of Berkley Grove, the Covenants provide that any
structural, design change, modification or additions must receive prior
written approval from the Architectural Review Committee. An Architectural
Review Form, along with detailed plans of your project, must be filled out
and submitted for approval. The committee's approval must be obtained in
writing prior to the beginning of any work. Please allow 30 days for
approval. This process is to protect you from possible future Covenant
compliance complaints. The form and some general guidelines are located in
this directory and on the web site.
Comments & Complaints
Neighbors may have complaints, comments or
suggestions to offer the board. If so, please contact the president or other
appropriate board member for the situation. Please express complaints in a
professional manner.
Crime Watch Program
Berkley Grove does have a neighborhood crime
watch program established. This program is a partnership with the Fishers
Police Department. They notify us of crimes that occur in Berkley Grove and
some other crimes that occur within Fishers. This information is distributed
by email to those signed up on the Berkley Grove email list and also through
our 15 block captains via flyers. A map of the specific block captains is in
this directory. If you are interested in helping the neighborhood by
becoming a block captain for your section, please let us know. Other safety
measures adopted by our neighborhood include:
Post Lamps/Garage Lights: These lights are a
must for community lighting and security. All properties should have a
dusk-to-dawn light. Please make sure yours are kept in working order at all
times. This lighting provides the only neighborhood lighting at night.
Garage Doors: Unauthorized access to garages
and homes can be a problem from time to time. You are strongly encouraged to
keep your garage doors closed regularly for security and appearance (even
when you are home or even in your yard gardening/mowing).
Street Parking: Street parking can be an
attractive magnet for vandalism or theft. The police encourage you to keep
vehicles parked in your garage, or at a minimum, in your driveway. Make sure
to keep your vehicles doors locked that are parked outside of your driveway.
Directory
All Berkley Grove residents are provided with
one directory. Only the "information" tab and any additional advertisers
will be updated annually. Residents will have to take out the old tab and
replace it with the new one. This directory/binder is a great place to store
all neighborhood related information. Please complete the update form (click
on one of the links below) and return it to any board member.

Mailboxes
All mailboxes were provided by the developer
and are uniform in nature, including design and color. To replace your
mailbox, you must use the vendor approved by the board:
Mail Box Solutions, their phone number is 317-460-1010.
If your mailbox was damaged by a Fishers snow
plow vehicle, please call the Fishers Public Works Department (595-3160) as
soon as possible. They will come out and repair the damage as soon as the
weather warms.
Maintenance of Neighborhood
If you notice a problem with any of the common
areas (front entrance, park, or ponds with surrounding grass area), please
notify the maintenance board member. Vendors are hired to mow and treat the
common area grass, maintain the ponds and front waterfall, etc.
Membership & Dues
All homeowners are automatically members of
the association who must pay an annual fee which are billed and
payable in March. Payments should be mailed to the neighborhood P.O. Box
address. An increasing late fee must also be paid if you submit your payment
late. The Board of Directors, in accordance with our Covenants, set the
amount of dues assessment annually. A majority of our dues consist of trash
removal and recycling.
New Residents
New residents who have moved to Berkley Grove
are encouraged to fill out the "New Resident" form (click on one of the
links below) and turn it in to a board member. This will ensure that you
receive all neighborhood information and are listed correctly in the next
upcoming directory.

Newsletter
The neighborhood newsletter, called "The
Post," is typically published quarterly and delivered to your mailbox. It
provides news and information concerning neighborhood projects, issues and
events. You have the option to sign up on the neighborhood email list to
receive this newsletter via email, which will lower costs to the
neighborhood. Please feel free to submit newsletter content ideas to the
newsletter editor.
Parking
No parking is permitted on any neighborhood
street of vehicles one ton or larger, including boats, RVs, trailers,
storage containers, etc., according to the Berkley Grove Covenants. (The
Fishers Police Department only allows these vehicles to be parked on Fishers
roads for three days out of every 30 days.) Abandoned vehicles on any road
are not allowed in Fishers and should be reported to the Fishers Police
Department (773-1282).
Pets
All owners must pick up after your pet when
you are off your property (I.E., in the park, grass around the ponds, on the
sidewalk near other people's properties, etc.). Please be respectful and
courteous to others using the same sidewalks and streets. Fishers does have
a leash law for dogs. All dogs must be kept on a leash when anywhere but
your property. Dogs must not have free access to any sidewalk, either.
Please keep all dogs that like to bark inside your home. Any violation of
these rules should be reported to the Fishers Police Department (773-1282),
except for "picking up after your dog" which should be reported to the
board.
Snow Plowing
We do not hire a vendor for plowing the
neighborhood. All plowing is handled by the Town of Fishers. They use a
priority system in plowing. First, they plow the major roads (I.E., 116th
St, Allisonville Rd, 96th Street, etc) until these are clear. Second, they
plow the secondary roads (I.E., Hague Rd, 106th St, Lantern Rd, etc). Third,
they plow the through-roads in neighborhoods (I.E., Meadow Ridge, Winding
Way, Willow Ridge, Davis Way, etc). Lastly, they plow the cul-de-sac roads
(I.E., Indigo Ct, Overlook Ct, etc). This proven method benefits the most
drivers the fastest. Please be patient while waiting for your road to be
plowed. Most Fishers neighborhoods do not hire plowing contractors.
Speed Limit
While the legal speed limit for Berkley Grove
is 30 mph, we encourage residents to travel around 17 - 20 mph and to be
extremely cautious of children. Any vehicle that constantly violates the
legal speed limit should be reported to the board stating vehicle type,
license plate, homeowners' address, etc.
Trash Removal & Recycling
Berkley Grove has a trash removal and
recycling contract with Republic Services (for the entire neighborhood as
part of your dues) until approximately February 2006. Their phone number is
823-6881. Republic will not pick up on the following holidays: Memorial Day,
Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's
Eve Day. If one of these holidays fall on a Monday, they will pick up on the
following day (Tuesday) for just that week.
Trash and recyclables are picked up on Monday
mornings. Place all items out on the curb by 6 am. Republic just automated
their trash pick up system, so they will provide residents with trash
containers to use.
Additionally, Republic will not pick up the
following: demolition, construction or discarded building materials (I.E.,
drywall, paneling, roofing, bricks, wood, etc.); trees, large limbs, tree
stumps, sod, dirt, sand or ashes; brush or vegetation from building
contractors, commercial trimmers or lawn services; septic, human and animal
waste; parts from automobiles, farm equipment, boats, engines, seats,
batteries; and explosives, pathological and biological waste, radioactive
materials.
Recycling items include aluminum and metal
cans, unbroken glass bottles any color, all plastic that is marked with the
#1 or #2 in the recycling symbol, and bundled, tied or sacked black & white
newspapers (no colored newsprint). Items NOT accepted are milk cartons,
magazines, building materials for scrap metal, waxed paper, cardboard,
window glass, light bulbs, ceramics, and plastics other than coded #1 or #2.
If you need a bin, please call the Berkley Grove treasurer because she might
be able to get the cost waved for you.
Items containing freon will not be picked up
(I.E., refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, etc.). You must call
NuGenesis at 838-8208 to schedule for a fee.
If you have an item that Republic or NuGenesis
won't accept (I.E., household batteries, chemical, fertilizers, paint,
etc.), please contact the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management Facility (a
household hazardous waste center in Noblesville, 1717 East Pleasant Street)
at 776-4005. They can accept many of these items.
