Aggressive driving
targeted
The Hamilton County Traffic Safety Partnership (HCTSP) will be cracking
down on aggressive driving in 2008. Hamilton County statistics have
recorded 40 deaths in the last three years. Those statistics and many
other traffic related concerns prompted the HCTSP to apply for grant
funding to assist in the reduction of aggressive driving in Hamilton
County.
“We are determined to do everything we can to reduce the number of
fatality accidents that occur in Hamilton County. In addition, our
efforts are also intended to reduce the number of traffic accidents that
occur throughout the county,” said Sergeant Steve Pickett. “We will use
crash statistics, traffic complaints and other information to dictate
where our concentrated patrols will take place,” Sergeant Pickett added/
The HCTSP received a $43,000 grant from the Indiana Criminal Justice
Institute to combat aggressive driving in Hamilton County. These funds
will help the HCTSP to continue to educate the public through public
service announcements, support Sheriff Doug Carter’s public forums,
train officers throughout Hamilton County to improve on scene crash
investigations, provide materials at fairs and festivals, and fund
additional aggressive driving patrols from HCTSP members throughout
2008.
