Fishers budget receives
award
The Town of Fishers has won the Government
Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation
Award for the second consecutive year. The award, the highest form of
recognition in governmental budgeting, was based on Fishers’ budget for
the 2008 fiscal year.
“The Town Council is committed to excellence in budgeting because they
know our residents deserve the highest level of professionalism in
management of their tax dollars,” said Fishers Town Manager Gary Huff.
“It’s nice to be honored for work that we believe in.”
The award reflects the commitment of the Fishers Town Council and staff
to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to
receive the award, Fishers had to satisfy nationally recognized
guidelines for effective budget presentations. These guidelines address
how well Fishers’ budget serves as:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communications device
Fishers’ budget was rated “proficient” in all four categories.
A Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation was presented to
Gary A. Huff.
The Government Finance Officers Association if a nonprofit professional
