Local businesses reduce
carbon footprint
Mossberg & Company and The Hamilton County Convention and Visitor Bureau
are now reaching potential clients in a whole new way, an eco-friendly
manner that reduces each organization’s carbon footprint.
Mossberg & Company is pleased to announce that, as part of an ongoing
initiative to be environmentally responsible, it has achieved
certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Sustainable
Forest Initiative (SFI) and the Program for the Endorsement of Forest
Certification (PEFC).
The Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau is the first business
to use their eco-friendly product and certification.
To earn the certifications, Mossberg needed to expand its ISO 9001-2000
quality procedures to make sure that production on and handling of paper
purchased from certified suppliers meets the stringent Chain of Custody
standards developed by the paper industry. Any certified paper used to
produce printed materials has been properly managed from the time it
leaves the certified forest to the time it’s delivered to the end user.
“We see these certifications as a way to show how serious we, our
customers and the graphic communications industry are about sustaining
well-managed forests,” said Mossberg President and CEO James W. Hillman.
“We will continue to pursue other avenues to underscore our commitment
to be a leader in our industry and the communities we serve.”
“The tourism industry utilizes electronic communications methods more
and more, but the paper visitors guide is still an important tool in
reaching potential visitors,” said Brenda Myers, Executive Director of
the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We are making a
concerted effort to utilize materials that provide for better
sustainability, however, and we are delighted at this certification.”
The Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau promotes tourism
growth through strategic marketing, hospitality and community
development initiatives.
