Fishers Arts Council
offers survey
The Fishers Arts Council encourages Fishers residents to share their
opinions for arts and culture in Fishers by taking an online survey. The
survey is designed to capture the Fishers community’s arts and culture
interests in order to help structure a Master Arts and Culture plan for
the Town. Surveys can be accessed at
www.fishersartscouncil.org.
Last year, the Hamilton County Visitor’s Bureau awarded the Fisher
Cultural Alliance (FCA) with a $35,000 grant to develop a master plan
for a shared vision of the arts and culture in Fishers.
The FCA is comprised of five non-profit volunteer organizations in
Fishers including: Fishers Arts Council, Fishers Parade and Festival,
Fishers Musical Society, Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens,
and Sister Cities Association of Fishers.
The first phase of implementation of the grant calls for market research
of the Fishers community in order to provide information on
demographics, motivation, and support of the arts in Fishers.
The second phase calls for an inventory of all arts and cultural
organizations and programs along with an assessment of land use needs
for arts and culture venues.
The master plan will be created at the conclusion of these studies. It
will be used to strengthen and expand art and cultural products in
Fishers and will be put into place in 2009.
Residents who already participated in a survey in March will receive a
follow up survey via email. The former survey took place at commercial
and government locations such as Kroger and the Bureau of Motor
Vehicles.
The Fishers Arts Council is also seeking new Councilors and volunteers
for events. Only those with a direct desire in helping shape, form and
move the arts & culture in Fishers should apply as a Councilor. Council
meeting are held once per month at Town Hall. Anyone interested should
email
terry@fishersartscouncil.org or call (317) 308-6539. .
