Fishers volunteer of
the year named
The Volunteers of Fishers organization announced their second “William
D. Kehl Jr. Volunteer of the Year” award winner as Fishers resident Mary
Pat McKee. She received the award at the Fishers Freedom Festival’s
Opening Ceremonies and was recognized as exceptionally dedicated and
committed to go above and beyond helping others in Fishers.
McKee is currently the President of the Fishers Sertoma Club and has
held numerous positions in the past such as vice president, secretary,
and fundraising chairman. She also helped Sertoma’s participation with
the Art Auctions, Renaissance Faire, Fishers Freedom Festival, and other
fundraisers which ultimately provided smoke detectors for the hearing
impaired through the Fishers Fire Department, purchasing hearing aids
for children in need, and supporting other local organizations that help
those that are unable to help themselves ranging from children to
adults.
As an active and involved member of the Fishers Chamber of Commerce, she
operates her own business called “MPM Marketing” and still finds time to
make a positive impact on the community by delivering food to
individuals for the “Meals on Wheels” program.
This honor was first given to Dub and Jeanne Clark in 2007 for their
extraordinary volunteer efforts. They have been involved with Fishers
Community Volunteer Fire Department, Hamilton Southeastern school board
and corporation, Hamilton County EMS Council, Central Indiana EMS
Council, Hamilton Southeastern Booster Club, Fishers Freedom Festival,
Hamilton County Red Cross and Fishers Sertoma.
This award was named in loving memory of William D. Kehl Jr. whose life
was tragically cut short and who dedicated many years to the Fishers
Freedom Festival and the Town of Fishers. He was an intricate part of
our community and will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of
humor, his drive to be the best at everything, and his absolute
dedication to his community.
The mission of the Volunteers of Fishers is to actively work and partner
with individuals and organizations in the community in an effort to
enrich and make a significant impact on the lives of our citizens and
the success of our businesses. We will accomplish this by setting a
positive example for others to follow in keeping the Town of Fishers as
an ideal place to live and raise a family through encouraging members of
the community to volunteer their time to serve others, promoting strong
family values and advocating healthy lifestyles.
