Fishers Freedom
Festival needs golfers
The second annual “Fireworks Scramble Golf Outing” sponsored by the
Fishers Freedom Festival will be held at Hawthorns Golf and Country Club
on Monday, August 11 at noon. The festival is looking for participants
and a wide range of sponsors, raffle prizes, and silent auction items
which will help cover the expense of the event.
Individual golfers cost $150 or it is $575 for a foursome. The cost
includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a boxed lunch, dinner banquet,
gift bag and prizes. Please wear collared shirts. No denim or spikes
allowed. Online registration is available at
www.fishersfreedomfestival.org and pay via Paypal, email freedomfestival@sbcglobal.net,
or call 317-595-3195.
The proceeds of this fundraiser help support the annual Fishers Freedom
Festival which provides free entertainment to approximately 45,000
attendees every year. It will also benefit the “Roy G. Holland Backpacks
for Kids” program which has provided school supplies to over 2,000 needy
children, the “Roy Holland Memorial Fund” which is a $2500 annual
scholarship, “Ken Wright Community and Life Scholarship” of $1000 each
given to four high school students, and the Volunteers of Fishers
organization.
Back in 1989, the founders of the Fishers Parade and Festival decided to
have a community gathering to celebrate Independence Day. With the help
of volunteers, the event originated as a one-day community picnic,
parade, and a few games for the children. Due to the overwhelming
participation by the public, this event grew to a two-day event.
The mission of the Fishers Freedom Festival is to encourage fellowship
through civic partnerships and citizen involvement by creating a safe
environment, developing needed community services, promoting family
integrity and striving to improve the quality of life for every resident
by investing in human potential.
The 21st Annual Fishers Freedom Festival will be Saturday, June 27 &
Sunday, June 28, 2009. The Festival is always in need of volunteers at
different levels of participation. For more information on volunteering
