Couple marries on train
in Fishers
A local couple is taking their passion for riding the rails and turning
it into a special wedding celebration during a trip aboard this year’s
25th anniversary WFMS FairTrain.
Wendy Smith and Ed Fouse, both volunteers at the Indiana Transportation
Museum (ITM) in Noblesville, will take their vows on the back platform
of a private train car in front of friends, family and other train
riders while dressed in authentic train conductor outfits.
The short wedding ceremony will take place just after 10 a.m. on August
7, which coincides with the second trip of the day on the second day of
the FairTrain. The ceremony will start just after the train pulls into
Fishers Station at 10 a.m. and will conclude as the train pulls away at
10:15 a.m. on its way back toward the State Fairgrounds. The couple will
be available for a short interview prior to the wedding.
Smith comes from a railroading family. Her grandfather worked for 45
years on the Nickel Plate Railroad, the same lines used by the ITM
today. She has been involved with the museum for two years and will soon
be certified as a conductor. Fouse has been volunteering with the ITM
since 1990. He is the Director of On-board Services at the ITM and also
works as a conductor, brakeman and dispatcher when needed.
