Fishers woman victim of
road rage shooting
The Fishers Police Department and the Indiana State Police are
investigating a road rage incident that occurred on August 12th at
approximately 6:15 pm. The victim (26, Fishers) reported that the
suspect fired a handgun at her vehicle during the incident. Officers
located the victim near 126th Street and Cumberland Road in Fishers.
Moments later the
suspect (Gregory M. Schmoll, 55, Indianapolis) called 911 to report his
location near 126th Street and S.R. 37 in Fishers.
The victim reported to police that she was driving northbound on I-69
when a man shot at her vehicle. She reported that the suspect sped up
and would not allow her to merge into his lane as her lane was ending.
Both cars continued north on I-69 and exited onto S.R. 37. Both cars
turned onto 126th Street and stopped near Reynolds Drive. The suspect
pointed a handgun at the victim again and verbally threatened her.
The suspect reported that he was driving northbound on I-69 in the
center lane when the victim driving in the left lane tried to run him
off the road. He told officers he fired one warning shot into her right
front fender.
Investigators believe that the shooting took place at the 1.5 mile
marker on I-69 in Marion County. The Indiana State Police will review
the Fishers investigation to decide if charges can be filed in Marion
County. The suspect was arrested and charged with pointing a firearm and
intimidation for the incident that occurred near Reynolds Drive in
Fishers. He was transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
