Fishers residents
appointed to serve
The Fishers Town Council appointed eight (8) citizens to serve on a
Joinder Agreement Referendum Study Committee during last night's Town
Council meeting. The Committee will examine a referendum question
appearing on the November 4th ballot to determine if unincorporated Fall
Creek Township (the area not within the Town of Fishers limits) will
remain within the Town of Fishers' planning and zoning authority.
Four of the appointees are residents of incorporated Fall Creek Township
while the other four appointees reside in unincorporated portions of the
township.
The Committee members are:
Rich Bassett (unincorporated resident)
Todd Bracken (unincorporated resident)
Kris Conover (unincorporated resident)
Todd Halkyard (incorporated resident)
Jeff Hern (unincorporated resident)
Aunna Huber (incorporated resident)
Mario Massillamany (incorporated resident)
Gregg Puls (incorporated resident)
As a result of a petition drive by individuals who live outside of the
Town's limits, a referendum is on the November 4th ballot for all
Fishers residents living in Fall Creek Township. If a majority of the
voters vote yes on the referendum, the Town of Fishers will lose the
planning and zoning functions in the areas of Fall Creek Township that
have yet to be annexed into the Town. The Town has been performing these
functions in order to properly plan for growth.
The study committee will collect and evaluate information relevant to
the decision voters will have to make in deciding the referendum. The
study committee will issue a report summarizing their findings and
conclusions. The report will be made available to the public so that an
informed and educated decision can be made.
