First Annual Oktoberfest Train

After 33 years in German Park, Oktoberfest is moving to the Indiana State Fair Grounds and the Indiana Transportation Museum is joining the festivities.

Starting at 3:30 p.m., four round-trip trains will take passengers to and from the event, which runs Aug. 29 – 31 and Sep. 5 – 6. Gates are open from 4 p.m. to midnight and the last train will depart the fair grounds at 12:15 a.m. to bring any remaining patrons back to the Fishers Train Station.

Round-trip tickets cost $14 for adults, $9 for children 3 to 12 and children under 3 ride for free. Oktoberfest tickets can be purchased for $6 at the gate or for $5 in advance from the State Fair ticket office or the German-American Klub. Children 10 and under get in free.

For more information, call the ITM at (317) 776-6000 or visit www.itm.org.

The Indiana Transportation Museum is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose mission is to preserve Indiana's railroad history, educate the public about railroad history and provide visitors with an opportunity to experience railroad travel as it used to be.

For more information about the museum or how to become a member or volunteer, call (317) 773-6000 or visit www.itm.org.

All proceeds from riders go toward helping the museum achieve its mission as well as renovate, repair and maintain the trains and other memorabilia..
