Fishers announces Fall
Town Gov't Academy
The Town of Fishers has announced that its award-winning Town Government
Academy (TGA) will start on September 30, 2008.
Citizens interested in participating in the eight-week educational
course that takes a hands-on look at town government can apply online at
www.Fishers.in.us.
“After participating in the academy, I have a much better understanding
and appreciation for the behind the scenes work that goes on to enhance
and sustain my community,” said Aunna Huber, Town Government Academy
Spring 2008 graduate. “I would recommend the class to anyone who is
interested in getting involved. It’s also a great way to meet new people
who live in Fishers while having some fun.”
TGA allows residents of Fishers to examine the inner workings of town
government by allowing students to hear from staff, tour Town
facilities, and engage in the collaborative town governing process. At
the end of the course, students should have a greater understanding of
how Fishers government works for its residents.
In 2007, the TGA was awarded a Community Achievement Award by the
Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT). Fishers represented the
40,000 and over population and received the award at IACT's Annual
Conference and Exhibition in Evansville in October 2007.
The Fall 2008 class will culminate with a graduation ceremony at the
December 1, 2008 Fishers Town Council Meeting. TGA is limited to Fishers
residents who are over 18 years of age and a resident of Fishers.
Residents interested in participating can apply online at
