Fishers WalMart burns

Fire damaged the lawn and garden storage area of the Wal Mart at 8300 East 96th this on OCtober 29th. The Fishers Fire Department received the call at around 8:25 am, first from the store's alarm company, then from the store confirming there was a fire.

A Fishers fire engine was nearby and arrived within a minute to find smoke coming from the building. The store's sprinkler system activated and helped contain the fire until firefighters could get inside and make final extinguishment.

Fire and water damage was contained to the storage area, but smoke affected the entire building. The store was evacuated for nearly two hours until firefighters ensured the fire was out and removed smoke.

Investigators determined that the fire started in boxes that were stored too close to a radiant heater above the storage racks.

Store management did not have any estimate on dollar loss.
